Opportunity
Reporting to the Vice President of Curriculum, the Director, Curriculum Development and Production will lead the development of high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum and instructional materials from concept through print-ready production. This is a true player-coach role: you will lead Curriculum Leads and subject-area teams while remaining deeply engaged in the work yourself—developing and refining curriculum, solving complex instructional challenges, and stepping into critical deliverables when needed.
- Lead Curriculum Development: Own multiple complex curriculum workstreams from initial concept and content planning through writing, revision, quality assurance, and print-ready production.
- Remain Hands-On: Personally write, develop, review, and refine curriculum and instructional materials, modeling the quality and pace expected of the broader team.
- Ensure Instructional Excellence: Maintain a high bar for instructional quality, coherence, rigor, usability, accuracy, and standards alignment, including TEKS, ELPS, RBIS, and other Texas instructional requirements.
- Lead and Develop Teams: Manage, coach, and develop Curriculum Leads while providing clear direction to writers, editors, subject matter experts, and other contributors.
- Drive Execution: Establish priorities, delegate effectively, make timely decisions, and provide actionable feedback to keep complex workstreams on scope, schedule, and quality standards.
- Partner with Clients: Work directly with clients to understand priorities, translate feedback into actionable direction, navigate evolving requirements, and resolve content and product challenges.
- Manage Partners: Oversee external vendors and production partners, setting expectations, reviewing work, resolving quality issues, and holding partners accountable for deliverables.
- Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with project management, production, assessment, editorial, operations, and other teams to resolve dependencies and move development forward.
- Contribute Strategically: Bring strong instructional judgment to curriculum strategy, product decisions, problem-solving, and the development of scalable, high-quality solutions.

- End-to-End Development Experience: Demonstrated success taking large-scale curriculum products from concept through development, quality assurance, and print/digital production.
- Player-Coach Leadership: 5+ years of people-management experience with the ability to lead, coach, delegate, and hold teams accountable while personally producing high-quality curriculum work.
- Instructional Judgment: Deep understanding of research-based instructional practices, curriculum coherence, standards alignment, and the translation of instructional frameworks into practical lessons, assessments, and resources.
- Complex Project Leadership: Experience managing multiple curriculum workstreams, contributors, dependencies, vendors, and aggressive timelines without sacrificing quality.
