Opportunity

Reporting to the CTO, the Director of Engineering will lead the development and operations of learning products and workforce management platforms for the Early Childhood Education division. The Director of Engineering will manage and mentor a team of engineering professionals as well as offshore teams, and drive the alignment of engineering efforts with market needs and product vision.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of 7 enterprise-level applications and associated back-office system integrations, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with business objectives
  • Lead and mentor a team of 7 engineering professionals and a contingent of full-time contractors across 4 cross-functional teams, fostering a high-performing and collaborative, engineering culture
  • Guide strategic architecture decisions for both new and legacy systems.
  • Enhance DevOps strategies and AWS infrastructure
  • Lead the modernization efforts for legacy products
  • Collaborate with the Director of Product to create and implement a learning platform strategy
  • Participate as a key member of the CTO’s engineering leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, organizational development, and technology governance
  • Contribute to relationship-building and revenue growth by nurturing client relationships

 Ideal Candidate

You currently work or have worked in an engineering leadership role managing teams of full-time employees as well as offshore teams, in a fast-paced, growth focused company. You can both lead, mentor, and retain top engineering talent, and can roll-up your sleeves and actively participate in projects when necessary. You know how to create meaningful client relationships to grow and enhance business objectives.

You should have the following experiences and skill sets:

  • Expertise in software design and AWS solution architecture, with the ability to create and implement software architecture solutions for both the ECE and Registry solutions
  • Understanding of legacy systems, such as Cold Fusion, and the intricacy of migrating
  • Proficiency with data pipelines, structures, and models
  • Experience with e-commerce and website development
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and cloud infrastructure optimization
  • Judgement to balance independent initiative and cross-functional collaboration
