Opportunity
Reporting to the CEO Mac Gamse, the VP of Business Development will develop and execute a strategic plan to expand the company’s white label/private label business by identifying and pursuing new publisher and curriculum partners. The VP of Business Development will sit on the executive leadership team and will impact business growth and shape company culture.
Primary responsibilities:
- Grow the company’s white label offerings into new subject areas beyond science, such as math, biology, and physics
- Explore opportunities to partner with other industries and organizations that could benefit from the company’s kitting and fulfillment capabilities
- Serve as the primary business development and sales lead for the white label/private label business, and proactively prospect, pitch, negotiate, and close new white label deals
- Nurture and grow existing white label customer relationships
- Work closely with the operations, product, and marketing teams to ensure successful delivery and support for white label customers
- Collaborate with the product team on the design, development, and delivery of white label offerings
- Foster a culture of ambition, collaboration, and accountability within the organization
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g. operations, sales, marketing)
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has a comprehensive knowledge of the education publishing industry and the key decision-makers within that industry. You are skilled at identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, both within existing customer accounts and with new prospects. You are adaptable and resilient, able to navigate a changing, fast-paced environment, and have a passion for Flinn Scientific’s mission and commitment to supporting K-12 education.
You should have the following experiences and skill sets:
- Proven track record of successfully prospecting, negotiating, and closing deals with large customers, in the education publishing industry
- Experience working directly with C-suite executives at major publishing companies and curriculum providers
- Demonstrated ability to build and nurture long-term strategic partnerships and relationships
- Success in developing and executing a strategic plan to grow a new business line or revenue stream from the ground up
- Familiarity with the operational realities of custom product procurement, manufacturing, and fulfillment
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills to interface with internal teams (e.g., operations, product, marketing)
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on driving growth and innovation
